CHAPTER 5

The smell of coffee and bacon dragged Lisa out of the pleasure filled dream, causing her to groan in frustration. She wanted to stay in the dream with David, but it drifted away. She raised her hands over her head and arched her back as she stretched. Muscles she didn’t even know she had were sore. The fuzzy sleep cobwebs cleared from her brain and the memories of last night rushed back to her.

Lisa’s eyes popped open and she looked to the right side of the bed, where David had been when she finally fell asleep in his arms. She turned several shades of red as both embarrassment and disappointment both fought for dominance.

Not again. Please, not again.

Lisa let her hand caress the cool sheets. It was obvious he had been gone for some time.

“Good morning beautiful.” David, fully dressed, walked into the bedroom carrying a cup of coffee.

Lisa pulled the sheet over her naked body.

David and his bear growled their disapproval. He went around to her side of the bed and put the steaming cup of coffee down on the nightstand. He then sat down on the bed next to Lisa. He gently tugged the sheet out of her hands and back down exposing her breasts and stomach to him. “Don’t hide your gorgeous body from me.”

Lisa’s face turned even redder. “This body is anything but gorgeous.” Her voice was a low whisper.

Our mate is beautiful.

“You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Both my bear and I think so.” David echoed his bear’s words. He cupped her breasts and leaned down, planting a kiss on each one. He tilted his head up and kissed her lips.

Lisa’s soft moans of pleasure filled the room.

David broke the kiss and rested his forehead against Lisa’s. For the first time in a long time he and his bear fully agreed about two things. Lisa was their mate, and they were both content and at ease when they were around her.

“You bit me last night!” Lisa frowned as she remembered the initial pain when he sank his teeth into her shoulder, but it had quickly faded away, replaced by liquid warmth, and now it didn’t hurt at all.

“Yes.”

“And now I’m your mate?”

“Yes, we are mated, but you were my mate before that. The bit just made it official, letting others know you are mine.”

“And that means what, exactly?” Lisa had a little bit of an idea, but she wanted him to tell her.

David could hear the worry in her voice. “In human terms, it means we are married or life.”

“As in permanent, no divorce kind of married for life?” asked Lisa.

“As in you’re stuck with me and my bear for the rest of our lives.” David caressed the side of Lisa’s face. “And I wouldn’t want it any other way. You are our other half, the half that completes us.”

The wrinkles on Lisa’s forehead slowly smoothed out “You really want me?” she asked in disbelief.

“Yes.” David pulled her into his arms. Her honey rose scent tickled his nose.
